Welcome to an exciting new season at Laffak Riding Club, as usual we will be holding our points shows on the 3rd Sunday in the month (17th April,15th May, 19th June, 17th July, 21st August and 18th September) and our annual Trophy Show on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August.
I have enclosed a Membership form and entry form so you can get things sorted before the first show, please can you send in the membership forms ASAP. Once you have become a member you can email or text your entries to me; so saving time on show days. You can also print these forms off the website.
We are the only club in Merseyside affiliated to the British Horse Society, this means all members are fully insured when competing at any event run by us or competing as a team member for the club. The BHS have increased the membership costs this year by another 50p we have decided that we will be keeping our membership fees the same as last year. Senior membership will be £17 and Junior’s £15. All membership cards are sent from BHS Head Quarters so it is important your address details are correct especially you’re Post Code if it isn’t on they will not be able to send you a copy of the Rider Magazine direct from HQ. Please can you ensure contact phone numbers are on the membership form in case we need to contact you if we have to cancel because of the weather? We have also decided to keep entry fee the same as last season Members – £4.50. Non – Members £6.00. Dressage – Members £6.00. Non – Members £8.00.
This season we are looking for sponsors for Championships the cost will be £35 per ring Champion and Reserve Champion Sash. Or if anyone would like to sponsor all 5 rings this will be £200, the Sashes will have your company or your own name on them. We were extremely grateful last year as we had sponsors for all the shows this will meant that at EACH points show we will have Ring Champion and Reserve sashes in the Ridden Showing Ring, the In-Hand ring, the Equitation Ring, the Dressage and the Working Hunter Ring! Also at the August show and the September show we will have a Supreme and Reserve Supreme of the show!! Hopefully we can do the same again this year. The April shows will be Medal shows with medals to all first placed in all rings. We also try to amass prizes to be given at some shows! So if you have anything please let us know.
As a BHS Affiliated Riding Clubs we are able to enter teams in various events throughout the season, these include , Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunter Trials and Combined Training, these are always great fun and our team spirit is fantastic. If you would like to be considered for team events please let us know. You must be able to get to the event, your horse /pony must have a valid passport and be fully vaccinated and most important you must be willing to travel to Lincoln for the National Champs should we be lucky enough to qualify! Team members are also expected to pay towards the entry fee although the club does subsidise this. At each area event we also need to provide 3 stewards, this can involve writing for dressage judges, collecting sheets, jump judging and pole picking. Please let us know if you could help with this, without stewards we can’t send a team.
As a BHS Affiliated Riding Club we work closely with BHS Merseyside and support them at events. You will find out about all the events they are putting on by going on British Horse Society Merseyside website.
As usual we always help before the shows to put out the jumps and dressage arena and on show days to put things away,
Even if you can only spare half an hour we would be most grateful to see you. Is there anyone who would like to steward for one of the judges? That would really be a great help.
I have enclosed a schedule of the season’s classes, Please note there are some changes to the schedule this season. There is a start time for each ring and a not before time for after lunch but the rings usually carry on other than this, please keep an eye on your rings, If you are in one class and are also needed in another class please let the judge know.
